Juicy Couture Bags and Purses
Juicy Couture purses are designed for the young and the young at heart. The company, a part of Travis Jeans Inc, was founded in Pacoima, California in 1994 by Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy who set out to create a major brand label that was affordable. The target age for their designs is aimed at women and girls from fourteen to twenty-six, though many designs appeal to different ages as well. They also have a men’s line, JM, which is short for “Juicy Men”.
Taylor and Levy did not have much money to advertise their Juicy Couture purses and apparel so in 1996 they came up with an idea to get their brand out in the public eye. They decided to send out their Juicy Couture signature velour tracksuits out to celebrities including Madonna. After Madonna was seen wearing a Juicy Couture outfit a trend was started and Juicy couture became an overnight success.
In 2003 Travis Jeans Inc, which owned all Juicy Couture’s assets, was purchased by Liz Claiborne Inc. for $53 million and a percentage of future earnings. Skaist-Levy and Nash-Taylor remained as co-presidents and as the creative minds behind Juicy Couture purses.
Juicy Couture’s original signature slogan “Made in the Glamorous USA.” has recently been removed from many of the brand’s inner labels. Many Juicy Couture designs are now manufactured in other parts of the world since Liz Claiborne’s acquisition of the company. Juicy couture purses and apparel are known for their sometimes risqué slogans. “For Nice Girls Who Like Stuff”,” Kiss My Couture”,” Some Girls Have All the Juicy” just to name a few.
A new Juicy Couture purse for spring is the ‘Peace Sign – Daydreamer’ Tote. Featuring embroidered rosettes that form a peace sign on the front of a terry cloth bag. The bag is topped by a wide drawstring that ties up into a bow. The rich patent leather trim and shiny hardware complement each other perfectly. This Juicy couture purse also has a magnetic tab closure, an interior zip, wall and cell phone pockets, and a removable mirror.
Another Juicy Couture purse in the Daydreamer line is the ‘Daisy Print Daydreamer’ Tote. This fun bag for spring and summer features bright yellow daisies decorating velour tote styled with a ribbon drawstring top. A large bee charm attached to a gold tone chain completes the purse. Charms are frequently seen on Juicy Couture purses. The ‘Key & Shell – Marion D’ Hobo has a collection of gold tone charms dangling from the side of a sophisticated hobo crafted from soft, supple pieced leather. This leather Juicy Couture purse is available in Black, Bacardi, Buttercup, and Green.
Juicy Couture purses are known for the signature Juicy Couture crest, as well as the phrases “Love, G&P” stitched on the inside tag of each item of Juicy apparel, as well as the shopping bags used at the boutiques and flagship stores. In 2007, Juicy Couture released a new tag on clothing. The new tag is pink consisting of the signature logo. The tags are all pink and there is a ribbon attached that reads Juicy Couture horizontally. Small details may change but the appeal of Juicy Couture purses will remain the same as long as there are young women with light hearts and big dreams and designers that understand that.
