Prada Bags and Purses
Prada. The simple word epitomizes the three kings of fashion—style, class and quality.
One of the older fashion houses, Prada opened in Milan in 1913 and produces luxury goods for both men and women. Like the story of Luis Vuitton, it initially catered to the needs of the leather word, producing leather goods for its customers. After successfully being run by its founders – brothers Fratelli Prada and Mario Prada, the handling of the shop was taken over by Mario’s daughter-in-law. She successfully ran the luxury house, increasing its profit to almost half a million dollars, by the late seventies. In 1979, her daughter Miuccia Prada, (the granddaughter of the founder), took over the reins when she was just 28. The house would see an even bigger transformation under her management. In 20 years she was able to push the Prada name from a nationally recognized brand into a global force in the world of style.

Today the name Prada reverberates with style. It is recognized as one of the most influential fashion houses. Time magazine described Prada as “…. unassertive, combining traditional good manners and an ultramodern industrial sleekness.”
Prada shies away from bold statements, instead opting for a simple design, regal fabrics and a modern look. In describing the ideas behind her designs, Miuccua once explained: “It is a time to look toward the future, without denying the past.”
In 1979 Miuccia Prada released her very first designs – a set of backpacks and Totes. Ten years later, Prada launched its ready-to–wear women’s line, with Miuccia maintaining the simple look that Prada was renowned for. Miuccia had released the phenomenally successful Prada handbag four years earlier, in 1985. It became an instant success and was lauded internationally.
Prada bags are products of high quality. They are made with nylon or leather and are extremely sturdy. The bags usually sport the Prada Logo – a silver-and black triangle, found at the side of the bag. However, unlike fellow luxury house Louis Vuitton, the emphasis is less on the marketing of the logo than it is on creating bags that are internationally renowned as signatures of style. The phrase “the devil wears Prada” (the title of a novel and eventual movie) is a fair summary of the recognition the fashion house has attained in the industry. Because of its simple style and look, Prada bags are easily worn with most outfits. Their high quality fabric and diverse functionality allows them to be used for various functions.
If Louis Vuitton is the king of fashion, then Prada might well be the queen.
A Prada purchase, whether it be a bag, a coat, a dress or anything else from their collection, is suitable for any modern and intelligent woman, or man for that matter!
In any language Prada means the same thing. Style.
