Rebecca Minkoff Bags and Purses

Rebecca Minkoff is the young creative mind behind the trendy Rebecca Minkoff bag.

Born in San Diego, California, Rebecca initially spent the early years of her childhood as an aspiring dancer. After an unsuccessful stint, however, she was assigned to the costume department of the art high school. Her experience there thrust her firmly into the world of fabrics. By the age of 17 she had decided that instead of college she would take a bolder step into the world of fabrics. Based on this friendship with her brother, she was granted an internship with fashion designer Craig Tailor. She began designing clothes at 18 and in 2001 she took a bolder step and launched her own clothing line.

After some success, a series of events inspired her to start designing handbags as well. On request, she designed a bag for her friend Jenny Elfman which was to be used for a movie. Even though the bag never got to make its screen debut, its trendy design and functionality convinced her to include it in her clothing line. The bag, in keeping with Rebecca Minkoff’s style, was called “The Morning after Bag”. It turned out to be a serious hit.

Indeed, the bag was so successful that Rebecca Minkoff moved the focus of her clothing line to the production of bags. The transition did not affect her style. Rebecca Minkoff designs clothes that are sexy, attractive, and comfortable. Her bags also use creative colors. In designing her bags, she selects a theme which governs her designs for the season. This is reflected in its eventual look. The bags are produced with facetious names like “The steady” or “The Rose”. The theme for her last season was called “Steady Love”.

Her bags have been spotted on the arms of such celebrities as Bijou Phillips, Hillary Duff, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, Debra Messing and Jenna Elfman (who Minkoff now calls her fairy God-mother, after being responsible for the very first Morning After Bag.) As well as the United States, her bags can be found in boutiques in Japan, France, Russia and Canada.

Rebecca Minkoff’s bags are modern and fun. They are made with bright colours and quality fabric. Their bright creative look is easily adaptable to most outfits.

When asked who her bags were most suitable for, Minkoff replied: “Some girls look at the bags and see a classic, but I think the girl is a mix of a little bit of a rocker and a girl that wants to take her bag anywhere. My bags are functional, fashionable, and a little bit edgy.”

Which, translated from the modern lingo of Rebecca Minkoff, sums up to a simple “Every woman”
