Following the death of Gianni Versace, leadership of the fashion house was assumed by Donatella Versace, his sister and former vice president.

However, Gianni Versace Couture, which is the main line of the house, is directly run by Donatella Versace. She is also the lead creative designer for the line. Amongst other things, Versace Couture is also responsible for the designing and creation of handbags.
